Definition
We speak of "good mood" to indicate a positive attitude towards situations and events; while we speak of "bad mood" to indicate a completely opposite attitude, therefore negative and non-proactive. As you can easily guess, a state of good humor usually corresponds to a condition of general well-being; on the contrary, a state of bad mood corresponds to a condition of malaise that can affect various aspects of a person's life.
Symptomatology
Among the affective symptoms, the central one in major depression is deep sadness, almost always present throughout the day and which does not change even in the face of pleasant and joyful events. Other symptoms of depression are anguish, guilt, feelings of inner emptiness, anxiety, negative thoughts and cognitive problems
Cognitive symptoms concern on the one hand the content of thoughts (which are negative and catastrophic), on the other hand the ability to pay attention, concentration and memory (which are deficient).
Those suffering from major depression may have greater difficulty memorizing, paying attention, and remembering what they have read or heard.
Among the most evident behavioral symptoms of major depression we find the reduction of daily activities. The loss of pleasure in doing anything (anhedonia), the loss of interest (apathy) combined with the feeling of chronic tiredness lead the subject to gradually reduce all daily activities.
Major depression also manifests itself on a somatic level with somatic symptoms such as widespread pain or gastrointestinal problems.
Multifactoriality
In the most serious situations, when these negative mood swings persist for long periods of time, they can connect or lead to real depressive phenomena.
Today we tend to consider depressive disorder as caused by multiple factors (multifactoriality): genetic, biological, environmental and psychological. Basically, environmental and psychological factors act as triggering factors and/or amplifiers in subjects with a genetic-biological predisposition.
Sometimes, however, it can happen that the mood undergoes alterations - generally negative - without apparent causes: the motivation for all this could be of internal origin. In fact, the tone of mood does not depend only on external events and emotions that occur during one's life, but also on endogenous mechanisms and very specific physiological processes.
Going into more detail, mood as well as the psyche in general are conditioned by the presence and activity of some neurotransmitters, such as dopamine, adrenaline and above all serotonin.
Prevention
When the first symptoms of a drop in mood appear, the Farmaplus Italia line of food supplements can help counteract them.
Serenplus drops and Serenplus tablets contribute to maintaining the natural state of tranquility and the physiological mood; the characterizing element of the formulation of Serenplus® is the synergistic action of its components:
• Jujube (ZIZIPHUS JUJUBA MILLER);
• Escolzia (ESCHSCHOLTZIA CALIFORNICA CHAM.);
• Melissa (MELISSA OFFICINALIS L.);
• Passiflora (PASSlFLORA INCARNATA L.);
• Valerian (VALERIANA OFFICINALIS L.);
• Tryptophan, an essential amino acid used by the brain to produce Serotonin (a neurotransmitter that regulates sleep and mood);
• Magnesium important in the biological processes of energy production and in the physiological processes of conduction of nerve impulses.
These extracts facilitate sleep and natural relaxation in case of stress;
moreover, Giuggiolo, Passiflora and Melissa also favor the natural modulation of mood, favoring mental health.
